N ATH 40' Pfaudler Wood Milk Car BM #1931 (ATH-2462)
The N ATH 40' Pfaudler Wood Milk Car, BM #1931, is a replica of a unique freight car designed for the transportation of bulk milk. Manufactured in the 1920s by the Pfaudler Company and General American Car Company, these cars featured wood sheathing and were insulated to maintain milk at a constant temperature of 38 degrees Fahrenheit using a brine cooling system. The design included two glass lined tanks with a capacity of 6,000 gallons each, built on passenger car trucks, which often sported a Pullman green color to match the passenger cars of the era. This model captures the essence of those special purpose cars that efficiently transported milk well into the 1950s.
The detailed model includes features such as screw mounted trucks, machined metal wheels with RP25 contours, and a body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers. Its construction is designed for optimal performance and realism, with a highly detailed, injection-molded body that is accurately painted and printed. The minimum radius for operation is 11 inches, ensuring compatibility with a variety of tracks.
