HO-scale FMC 4700 Covered Hopper, Forward is a detailed freight-car model designed to bring authentic, prototype-era hopper service to HO layouts. It features separately applied brake gear—brake wheel, housing, chain, brake lever, air reservoir, brake cylinder and triple valve—and rides on 100-ton trucks with 36-inch nickel-silver wheels and RP25 contours for smooth operation on most HO tracks. Factory-applied roof walk, roof hatch, end details, ladders and wire grab irons add to the realism, while a carefully painted injection-molded body captures the car’s prototype look. Details include two outlet grate variations, see-through etched metal end platforms and roof walkways, and body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers. Weighted for stable running and compatible with minimum HO radii of 18 inches, this model is ready to join a typical layout’s freight roster.

Primed for grime: the finish is designed to resemble an in-service car, with faded base colors matched to the prototype and ready-made weathering cues. It provides an excellent starting point for adding grime, rust and other wear to create a highly realistic, personalized display on a diorama or operating layout.
