HO Athearn SW1500 Locomotive IHB #1512 (ATH-2514)

HO-scale Athearn SW1500 Switcher locomotive in IHB livery is a detailed four-axle diesel switcher designed for yard and industrial switching on HO layouts. Reproducing the EMD SW1500 prototype built between 1966 and 1974, it delivers 1,500 horsepower with dual exhaust stacks and features lit ground lights, see-through radiator grilles and cab windows, finely detailed handrails, and a realistic cab interior. The model is DCC-ready with Quick Plug technology and a 21-pin NEM connector; some versions include an onboard DCC decoder with SoundTraxx Econami sound for engine, horn, and bell, while LED lighting provides long-lasting illumination.

Available in IHB and other roadname schemes, the SW1500 carries authentic touches such as flexicoil trucks, large fuel tanks, frame-mounted handrails, MU hoses, and a three-chime horn. It uses an improved five-pole motor for smooth, quiet operation with reliable electrical pickup, RP25 wheel contours for compatibility with common HO track, and McHenry scale knocker couplers (Kadee-compatible) for easy, realistic coupling.
