HO SW1500 Locomotive Alton & Southern (ATH-2521)
HO SW1500 Switcher Locomotive  a faithful HO-scale recreation of the EMD SW1500, a four-axle diesel switcher built by GM’s Electro-Motive Division between 1966 and 1974. Powered by a 1,500 horsepower EMD 645E engine and about 44 feet 8 inches long, the SW1500 was designed for switching duties on light branch lines and in industrial yards. The model captures its rugged profile with dual exhaust stacks and the bulkier carbody that set the SW1500 apart from earlier designs.
Available in Legendary Liveries such as the Alton & Southern scheme and ALS #1501, this HO SW1500 offers rich details and reliable operation: LED lighting with ground lights, see-through radiators and cab windows, fine-scale handrails, and detailed cab interior. It’s designed for easy DCC setup with Quick Plug 21-pin NEM connectors, driven by a capable five-pole motor with all-wheel drive, and it uses McHenry scale knuckle couplers (Kadee compatible) with RP25 wheels for broad track compatibility. Some versions include onboard SoundTraxx Econami sound with a single speaker and NMRA-compatible functions for MU lashups. The model is optimized for layouts with an 18-inch minimum radius, delivering smooth, dependable operation in a realistic yard or industrial setting.
