HO ATH SW1500 Locomotive w/DCC & Sound (ALS #1506) (ATH-2542)

HO-scale EMD SW1500 switcher locomotive with DCC and sound brings authentic yard power to an HO layout. Based on the 1966–1974 SW1500 prototype, this model captures the chunky profile with dual exhaust stacks, LED lighting, see-through radiator grilles, and a finely detailed cab interior. It includes drop steps, MU stands, printed numberboards, and separately applied grab irons on an all-wheel-drive chassis for smooth, quiet operation, with McHenry scale knuckle couplers (Kadee compatible) for prototypical handling. A minimum 18-inch radius makes it suitable for standard HO track setups.

Sound-equipped variants feature an onboard DCC decoder with SoundTraxx Econami and a single cube speaker, delivering engine, horn, and bell sounds in DCC; in DC operation, engine and horn sounds work, though some functions may be limited. All functions are NMRA-compatible in DCC mode, with lighting controllable via common function keys. The model offers excellent low-speed performance and easy MU lashups, plus CV adjustments with a CV chart included to help tailor performance. The injection-molded body, see-through cab windows, and finely scaled details bring authentic switching action to the layout.
