HO Pullman Common Standard Postal Car IC #81/82 (ATH-2584)

This HO-scale Pullman Common Standard Postal Car is a faithful representation of the 60-foot mail car built to the Harriman-era Common Standard design. Based on the Illinois Central IC #81/82 prototype, the model reproduces classic details such as arched roof panels with rivets, Pintsch gas vents and piping, roof vents, and mail slots on each side. A magnetically attached roof allows easy access for maintenance, and a weighted body helps ensure smooth operation on HO layouts, while McHenry scale knuckle-spring couplers provide authentic, dependable coupling with other rolling stock.

Two underframe configurations are included: an as-built version with four gas tanks or a modernized version with a battery box. The car rides on six-wheel trucks and includes window glazing and interior detailing, with options for pressed steel doors or wooden doors per prototype. Designed for HO layouts with an 18-inch minimum radius, it serves as a convincing centerpiece for mail-service scenes, yard work, and long consists, delivering period-accurate appearance and reliable handling.
