HO 60' Pullman Common Standard Postal Storage Car SP #4404 (ATH-2587)

HO-scale 60-foot Pullman Common Standard Postal Storage Car is a detailed model recreating a Southern Pacific-era mail car designed to speed mail handling on early 20th-century rail service. Built on the Harriman-era Common Standard design, it features authentic details such as arched roof panels with rivets, roof vents, and a mail slot on each side, complemented by interior mail-handling fixtures like pigeonhole-style cases, bins and sorting tables. For postal storage service, mail catcher arms are omitted to reflect the prototype’s function.

Designed for HO layouts, the model runs on six-wheel trucks with McHenry scale knuckle-spring couplers and is weighted for smooth operation. The roof is magnetically attached for easy removal, and the design accommodates an 18-inch minimum radius on typical layouts. SP variants include underbody battery box and wooden side doors, with mail catcher arms omitted for postal storage; other underframe configurations such as gas tanks are shown on alternate editions to reflect prototype options.
