This HO-scale 45-foot Fruehauf Z-Van Smooth Side trailer is an authentic Athearn prototype designed to bring period-correct highway and yard traffic to HO layouts, ideal for road- and rail-based scenes from the 1970s through the 2000s.

The Z-Van evolution includes three body styles—ribbed-side, beaded-side, and the smooth-side construction that represents the modern design. The 45-foot version followed the original 40-foot length, with refrigeration equipment options and variations in landing gear configurations and door rods, delivering era-appropriate details that help scenes feel convincingly authentic.
