N ACF 4600 3-Bay Center Flow Hopper AC&Y #470 (ATH12941)

An accurate HO-scale model of American Car and Foundry's 3-bay CenterFlow hopper, finished in AC&Y livery. This ready-to-run car reproduces the mid-1960s design used to haul grain and other bulk loads, with a rounded CenterFlow body that strengthens the structure and simplifies gravity unloading.

Three body styles mirror early-to-late variations, including Early with a high-side ladder and brake wheel, Mid with a lower brake wheel and shorter ladders, and Late with double side stiffeners (post-1971). The model features round or trough hatches, a photo-etched roofwalk, detailed outlets, and multiple road numbers, plus a separately applied brake wheel. Screw-mounted 100-ton trucks ride on 36-inch machined metal wheels, and body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers ensure reliable operation. The car is weighted for steady performance and arrives fully assembled and accurately painted, with a minimum curve radius of 9¾ inches to fit standard layouts. In real service from the mid-1960s, CenterFlow hoppers replaced aging boxcars for grain service and remain common in bulk-haul service today.
