N ACF 4600 3-Bay Center Flow Hopper Model (ATH12942)

An HO-scale, ready-to-run model of the ACF 4600 3-Bay CenterFlow Covered Hopper, faithfully reproducing the mid-1960s bulk-carrier built by American Car and Foundry for grain and similar loads. The 3-bay CenterFlow body uses a rounded profile to provide structural strength and simplify gravity unloading, mirroring the prototype’s practical design.

Three body styles reproduce early, mid, and late configurations, with authentic detailing such as ladders, brake wheels, and stiffeners; round or trough hatches; a photo-etched roofwalk; and detailed outlets. The model includes a separately applied brake wheel, screw-mounted 100-ton trucks with 36-inch machined metal wheels, body-mounted McHenry scale knuckle couplers, and is weighted for stable, ready-to-run operation. It also features multiple road numbers and arrives fully assembled, painted and printed, designed to operate on HO layouts with a minimum radius of 9¾ inches for smooth, realistic grain-train scenes.
