N ACF 4600 3-Bay Center Flow Hopper ATSF #314337 (ATH12945)

An N-scale Santa Fe ACF 4600 3-Bay CenterFlow Hopper, road number 314337, is a ready-to-run model that faithfully recreates a mid-1960s bulk-hopper used in grain service. Built by American Car and Foundry, the CenterFlow design uses a rounded body for structural strength and gravity unloading, eliminating the traditional center sill to simplify unloading on modern layouts. The Santa Fe livery and road number give it an authentic, operating-ready presence on an N-scale roster.

Detailing spans three body styles to mirror early, mid, and late configurations—early with a high-side ladder and brake wheel and a single side stiffener; mid with a low brake wheel, shorter ladders at both ends, and a single side stiffener; and late with a low brake wheel, shorter ladders at both ends, and double side stiffeners (post-1971)—as well as round or trough hatches, a photo-etched roofwalk, and detailed outlets. The model rides on screw-mounted 100-ton trucks with 36" machined metal wheels and body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers, and is weighted for smooth running. It arrives fully assembled, with accurate paint and printing on a highly detailed injection-molded body, and a minimum radius of 9¾ inches helps it operate cleanly on compact N-scale curves. In prototype terms, cars like this carried grain and other bulk loads and were widely used across many roads, a heritage this model faithfully conveys on layout shelves.
