N ACF 4600 3-Bay Center Flow Hopper (ATH12951)

Introducing the 3-Bay CenterFlow Hopper model, a precise replica of the classic mid-1960s American Car and Foundry bulk-car design used for grain and similar bulk shipments. Representing the 4600 cubic foot capacity version, the CenterFlow body’s rounded shape provides structural strength and gravity unloading, eliminating the need for a center sill. This model arrives fully assembled and ready to run, with accurate paint and printing and a highly detailed injection-molded body.

Three body styles reproduce era variations, from Early with a high side ladder and brake wheel to Mid with a lower brake wheel and shorter ladders, to Late with a lower brake wheel and double side stiffeners. The model features round or trough hatches, a photo-etched roofwalk, detailed outlets, and multiple road numbers. It rides on screw-mounted 100-ton trucks with 36-inch machined metal wheels, and uses body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers. Weighted for reliable performance, it’s designed to handle tight curves with a minimum radius of 9¾ inches and is ready to run right out of the box. The prototype entered service in the mid-1960s and was a modern replacement for aging boxcars in grain service, designed for gravity unloading on light branchlines and industrial services.
