N ACF 4600 3-Bay Center Flow Hopper (ATH12953)

The N ACF 4600 3-Bay Center-Flow Hopper is a detailed, ready-to-run model of American Car and Foundry’s classic 3-bay CenterFlow grain hopper. The real car, introduced in the mid-1960s, was designed to haul bulk loads like grain and corn and uses a rounded body to provide structural strength while enabling gravity unloading without a traditional center sill. This model faithfully captures that purpose-built geometry, delivering an authentic representation that’s ready to roll on modern layouts.

Three body styles are represented—early with a high side ladder and brake wheel, mid with a low brake wheel and ladders at both ends, and late with low brake wheels and double side stiffeners after 1971. Features include round or trough hatches, a photo-etched roofwalk, and detailed outlets, with multiple roadnumbers for realism. The model arrives fully assembled and accurately painted and printed, built around a highly detailed injection-molded body. It rides on screw-mounted 100-ton trucks with 36-inch machined metal wheels and body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers for reliable, prototypical operation. Weighted for optimum performance and designed for a minimum radius of 9¾ inches, this hopper is ready to enrich grain-hauler scenes on standard hobby layouts.
