N ACF 4600 3-Bay Center Flow Hopper Model (ATH12955)

HO-scale 3-bay CenterFlow covered hopper, reproducing American Car and Foundry’s 4,600 cubic foot bulk-car design used for grain and similar loads. The CenterFlow rounded body provides structural strength and enables gravity unloading without a traditional center sill. This model arrives fully assembled and ready to run, with accurate painting and lettering to match the prototype.

Three body styles illustrate the design’s evolution—from early cars with a high-side ladder and brake wheel to later configurations with lower wheels, ladders at both ends, and double side stiffeners (post-1971). Features include round or trough hatches, a photo-etched roofwalk, detailed outlets, a separately applied brake wheel, screw-mounted trucks, 100-ton trucks with 36-inch machined metal wheels, and body-mounted McHenry scale knuckle couplers weighted for smooth operation. With a minimum radius of 9¾ inches, it’s ready to roll on typical HO layouts. This 4,600 cubic foot capacity CenterFlow car was introduced in the mid-1960s to modernize bulk grain service and remains a familiar sight on grain trains today.
