This N scale 45-foot Fruehauf Z-Van Trailer is a newly tooled, first-time offering in N scale, designed to add authentic intermodal trailers to road-and-rail layouts. It provides two body styles—smooth-sided and rib-sided—to reflect the evolution of the Z-Van design, making it suitable for both vintage and more modern scenes from the 1970s through the 2000s.

Beyond its faithful look, the model includes a range of realistic details: a separately applied wire landing gear crank, mud flaps, and positionable bogies, all on a highly detailed injection-molded body that is painted and printed for realism. The Z-Van trailer was built for intermodal service, enduring both road and rail travel; the 45-foot version followed the original 40-foot model and offered options such as refrigeration and different door-rod configurations. Construction progressed from ribbed-side to beaded-side, with the smooth-side version representing the most modern construction method, giving modelers a versatile, period-accurate trailer to place on flatcars or on the road.
