Introducing the N-scale 45-foot Fruehauf Z-Van trailer, a newly tooled, first-time offering in N scale. This Athearn model reproduces the rugged intermodal trailer designed for use on both road and rail, bringing authentic presence to freight yards and intermodal scenes from the 1970s through the 2000s.

Two body styles—smooth-sided and rib-sided—reflect the Z-Van’s design evolution. The model features a separately applied wire landing gear crank, mud flaps, and positionable bogies, plus a highly detailed injection-molded body that is painted and printed for realistic decoration. It traces the prototype’s history from 40-foot origins to the 45-foot variant, with variations in refrigeration equipment and door-rod configurations, making it a faithful, versatile addition to road-and-rail layouts in N scale.
