HO 16,000 Gallon Clay Tank Model (ATH16398)

This HO-scale 16,000-gallon clay tank car model recreates a modern UTLX‑style tank car designed for bulk material service. It mirrors a 286K design with about 16,000 gallons of capacity, a 111-inch interior-diameter tank, and an overall length of 44 feet, built to AAR Plate C clearance. The bottom-unloading funnel-flow design and lined construction reflect real-world practice to prevent cross-contamination on HO layouts.

Richly detailed, the model features full brake plumbing and rigging, see-through photo-etched walkways and ends, separately applied fittings such as nozzles and a manway, plus wire platform railings, ladders, placard holders, and printed markings on the tank and ends. It rides on 36-inch solid nickel-silver wheels with RP25 contours and uses McHenry AAR upper and lower shelf couplers, with an 18-inch minimum-radius requirement to ensure smooth operation on typical HO curves.
