HO 16,000 Gallon Clay Tank Model Car (ATH16410)

HO-scale 16,000-gallon Clay Tank Car is a detailed model designed for HO layouts, reproducing a modern bulk-clay tank car used for clay shipments. The prototype measures about 44 feet in length with a 111-inch diameter tank and a 16,000-gallon capacity, and it features bottom unloading with a funnel-flow design. The real car is lined and kept in dedicated service to prevent cross-contamination, a detail echoed in this model for realistic operation on your layout.

Engineered for authentic operation and display, it includes full brake plumbing and rigging—brake wheel, air reservoir, cylinder, triple valve, trainline, brake rod and more—plus see-through photo-etched walkways and end panels. Separately applied fittings such as nozzle, manway, and small safety valve nozzles with platforms, along with wire platform rails, grab irons, side safety rails, and fine-scale ladders and placard holders, add to the lifelike detailing. Printed markings decorate the tank, and the model rides on 36-inch nickel-silver wheels with RP25 contours, paired with McHenry AAR upper/lower shelf couplers for smooth operation on HO track. It is designed to negotiate minimum 18-inch radii, and multi-packs offer unique road numbers for layout variety.
