HO-scale FMC plug-door box car in gray recreates a mid-1970s per diem boxcar for model railroads. Modeled after the era’s 50-foot outside-post design, it captures the distinctive silhouette and authentic decoration that bring a layout to life.

From the ground up, the model features all-new tooling for accurate dimensions, a photo-etched cross-over platform, and separately applied grab irons, end ladders, and a brake wheel. It rolls on 33-inch machined metal wheels with RP25 contours, is weighted for smooth operation, and uses body-mounted McHenry scale-knuckle couplers for reliable coupling. The injection-molded body is highly detailed and painted and printed to reflect prototypical paint schemes. With an 18-inch minimum radius, it runs smoothly on standard HO layouts, and its grime-ready finish—faded base colors matched to the prototype—provides a perfect starting point for adding rust and weathering.
