HO-scale FMC plug-door box car is an authentic reproduction of a mid-1970s FMC boxcar, designed to bring realistic freight operations to an HO layout. It showcases a classic plug-door design and representative prototype paint schemes, giving model railroad scenes on yards, sidings and mainlines a believable touch of era-specific detail.

The model features true-to-life detailing and operation: new tooling with accurate dimensions, a photo-etched cross-over platform, and separately applied grab irons, end ladders and a brake wheel. It rolls on 33-inch machined metal wheels with RP25 contours, is weighted for stable running, and uses body-mounted McHenry scale-knuckle couplers for authentic coupling. The injection-molded body is painted and printed for lifelike decoration, with schemes that mirror prototype appearances. A Primed for grime variant provides a ready starting point for weathering—faded base colors and subtle grime—while the design remains faithful to FMC’s mid-70s era and is suitable for HO layouts with minimum radii as small as 18 inches.
