N 4-6-6-4 Union Pacific #3967 Challenger Steam Locomotive (ATH25543)

An N-scale Union Pacific 4-6-6-4 Challenger steam locomotive, road number UP 3967, this ready-to-run model faithfully recreates UP’s postwar Challenger class. The UP 3967 variant is configured as a coal burner with dual smokestacks and smoke lifters, reflecting service from the 1940s through the late 1950s.

Designed for realistic operation on an N-scale layout, it features a five-pole motor with flywheel for smooth running, a heavy die-cast frame for traction, and LED lighting with directional headlights. The model includes a full cab interior, see-through running boards and cab windows, and finely applied piping and valves with operating eccentric cranks. Coupling is via McHenry scale knuckle couplers. It is available as a DCC-ready model with Quick Plug plug-and-play technology; sound-equipped variants carry a tender-mounted DCC decoder with SoundTraxx Tsunami2 sound and support DC/DCC operation, with full DCC functions and adjustable CVs.
