N 40' Offset Coal Hopper with Load, SCL #160587 (ATH28576)

This N-scale, 40-foot offset coal hopper with load is a detailed model railcar designed to faithfully recreate coal-hopper cars used in automated loading and unloading operations. The open hopper body and removable coal load let you stage authentic coal-handling scenes on a modern layout.

Built with a highly detailed injection-molded body, a weighted die-cast underframe, and machined metal wheels, it rides on screw-mounted trucks and uses body-mounted McHenry knuckle couplers for realistic coupling. The model can be fitted with roller-bearing or Bettendorf trucks and features scale-profile brake wheels with accurately painted and printed detailing. The coal load is removable for display with either loaded or empty appearances, and the car is designed to run on Code 55 and 80 rails with a minimum radius of 9 3/4 inches, making it compatible with most hobby layouts.
