The Burlington Northern SW1500 HO Scale Ready-to-Run Diesel Locomotive is a faithful, out-of-the-box representation of BN’s SW1500 switcher for HO layouts. It features a highly detailed injection-molded body, a full cab interior, and authentic BN touches such as a Western-Cullen beacon, operating ground lights, a 1,100-gallon fuel tank, and a firecracker antenna. Separately applied wire grab irons, see-through radiator grilles and cab windows add to the realism, while RP25-profile wheels and McHenry scale knuckle couplers (Kadee-compatible) enable smooth coupling to rolling stock. Window packaging makes the model easy to view and display, right out of the box.

Designed for dependable HO operation, this SW1500 delivers smooth, quiet performance thanks to an upgraded can motor and an all-wheel-drive drivetrain with flywheels. It offers DCC-ready versions with a Quick Plug 21-pin interface or, in sound-equipped variants, Tsunami2 sound with dual cube speakers for authentic engine, horn and bell sounds, with NMRA-compliant operation in DCC mode. LEDs provide long-lasting illumination, and the design accommodates an 18-inch minimum radius so the locomotive runs reliably on most HO layouts.
