HO EMD Model 40 Locomotive USAX #7952 (ATH28746)

HO EMD Model 40 Locomotive USAX #7952 (ATH28746)

HO-scale EMD Model 40 Locomotive in United States Army livery (USAX) is a ready-to-run diesel-electric switcher designed for wartime switching duties on a model railroad. Built by EMC/EMD between 1940 and 1943, these compact two-axle locomotives—nicknamed “critters”—were used to move a range of rolling stock, from tanks to tents, making them a compact, action-ready addition to a World War II-era layout.

This model offers authentic detailing and easy operation: separately-applied horn, exhaust stacks, and bell; see-through cab windows; a highly detailed injection-molded body with Celcon handrails; and full decoration. It arrives ready to run, with Quick Plug plug-and-play DCC readiness, LED lighting, and bi-directional operation for consistent headlight brightness. McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers, all-wheel drive with precision gears, and a heavy die-cast frame provide reliable traction and smooth performance. The RP25 wheel contours accommodate Code 55–100 rails, and the model is designed for minimum 15-inch radius curves. Eleven Model 40 locomotives were produced between 1940 and 1943 for organizations including the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy, reflecting its wartime heritage.
