HO EMD Model 40 Locomotive Faded Red / Yellow (ATH28749)

HO EMD Model 40 Locomotive in Faded Red and Yellow is a detailed, ready-to-run HO-scale recreation of the early two-axle diesel-electric built by EMC/EMD in the 1940s. Fully assembled and out of the box, it features a highly detailed injection-molded body, see-through cab windows, and separately applied horn, exhaust stacks, and bell, with Celcon handrails for a true-to-scale appearance and a heavy die-cast frame for better traction and quiet operation.

Designed for realistic operation, this model is DCC-ready with Quick Plug plug-and-play technology, and it includes LED lighting with bi-directional headlights, McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers, all-wheel drive with precision gears, and all-wheel electrical pickup for smooth performance. RP25-contoured wheels suit Code 55–100 rail, with a minimum radius of 15 inches. It’s primed for grime models, providing an ideal base for adding weathering like grime and rust. The Model 40 prototype was produced in a small run of eleven locomotives between 1940 and 1943 and earned the nickname “critters,” adding historical flavor to any HO roster.
