This HO-scale RS-3 diesel locomotive with DCC and sound is a ready-to-run model designed to faithfully reproduce the New Haven RS-3 from the 1940s and 1950s on your layout. It captures the prototype’s character with authentic detailing, including forward and reverse Blatt horns, a steam generator stack with nose vent and water tank, and a single headlight, with artwork approved by NH experts to ensure prototype accuracy.

Inside, it combines classic workmanship with modern reliability: a DCC-ready design with a 21-pin plug and, for sound versions, Tsunami2 DCC/Sound with a cube speaker for realistic diesel audio. The model features a newly designed, powerful yet quiet can motor, LED lighting, and all-wheel drive with multi-link drivetrain and electrical pickup for smooth operation. Additional details include metal grab irons, fine-scale handrails, see-through etched radiator fan and cab windows, and McHenry scale knuckle couplers (Kadee-compatible) with RP25 wheels for compatibility on most HO track. Fully assembled and ready to run, it accommodates a minimum 18" radius on layouts.
