HO Scale SW1500 Locomotive — Rock Island #944 is a detailed HO model of the EMD SW1500 switcher used by the Rock Island. Designed for realistic yard work and light freight moves on HO layouts, this model captures the late-1960s look and Rock Island paint scheme, making it ideal for authentic switching scenes.

Prototype background and features: The SW1500 was a 4-axle diesel switcher built by EMD between 1966 and 1974, delivering about 1,500 horsepower on a 44'8" frame. The model includes lit ground lights, a detailed cab interior, hood-mounted handrails, MU hoses where appropriate, dual exhaust stacks, printed numberboards, and finely rendered handrails. It rides on RP25 wheels with all-wheel drive for smooth, quiet operation and includes McHenry knuckle couplers; DCC-ready plug with 21-pin NEM connector and, in sound-equipped versions, Economi sound with a single cube speaker. Front and rear trainline hoses with silver glad hands, separately applied grab irons, and see-through radiator grille and cab windows add to the realism, while LED lighting provides long-life operation. Minimum radius is 18 inches, making it compatible with most HO layouts.
