HO SW1500 Locomotive Union Pacific #1014 (ATH29666)

Union Pacific HO-scale SW1500 Locomotive No. 1014 is a detailed HO model of EMD’s four-axle SW1500 switcher, designed for yard work and light freight on an HO layout. This UP prototype captures authentic features such as flexicoil trucks, a large fuel tank, MU hoses, frame-mounted handrails, the Nathan P-3 horn, and loop-style cut levers, with ground lights and a meticulously modeled cab interior that enhance realism from close viewing angles.

On the rails, it delivers smooth, reliable operation thanks to all-wheel drive with precision gears and RP25-contoured wheels for broad compatibility with common track. It’s offered in DCC-ready form with a 21-pin plug or in sound-equipped versions with onboard DCC Economi sound, functioning in both DC and DCC. Realistic details include see-through radiator grilles and cab windows, separately applied wire grab irons, front and rear trainline hoses with silver glad hands, and LED lighting. The model supports MU lashups, uses McHenry scale knuckle couplers (Kadee compatible), and uses a robust motor with flywheels and a multi-link drivetrain for quiet, smooth operation. The SW1500 prototype was built by EMD between 1966 and 1974 as a 1,500-horsepower, four-axle switcher designed for industrial and light freight service, with an overall length around 44 feet 8 inches.
