HO SW1500 Locomotive Minneapolis Northfield & Southern #37 (ATH29676)

HO SW1500 Locomotive Minneapolis Northfield & Southern #37 (ATH29676)

This HO-scale Minneapolis, Northfield & Southern SW1500 locomotive, number 37, is a faithfully detailed model of General Motors EMD’s SW1500 switcher designed for HO layouts. The prototype look is captured with MU capability, lit ground lights, dual Hancock air whistles, hood-mounted handrails, a small fuel tank, MU hoses, plus a front plow and footboards on the rear pilots. Built in 1966 for shortline service, these units often ran in pairs or with an SW1200, and this model recreates that compact, workhorse profile for reliable operation on DC or DCC layouts.

Across the details, the model emphasizes realism and performance: a finely injection-molded body, see-through radiator grille and cab windows, separately applied wire grab irons, fine scale handrails, and trainline hoses with silver glad hands. It rides on Flexicoil trucks with RP25 wheels for smooth track feel and uses McHenry scale knuckle couplers compatible with Kadee. Features include all-wheel drive and electrical pickup, DCC-ready Quick Plug plug-and-play with a 21-pin NEM connector, and LED lighting; sound-equipped versions add a SoundTraxx Economi decoder with a single speaker. The minimum operating radius is 18 inches, making it suitable for industrial yards, branch-line scenes, and realistic lashups.
