HO 30,000-Gallon Ethanol Tank Car (ATH29918)

An HO-scale Ethanol Tank Car, modeled after a modern 30,000-gallon tanker used to move ethanol in freight trains. This detailed model recreates the look of the real thing with a separately applied walkway platform, manway, outlet, ladders, brake rigging, safety rail supports, tank saddles, and printed placards. It also features photo-etched walkways and end platforms, wire safety rails and end handrails, and rides on 100-ton roller bearing trucks with 36-inch machined metal wheels in RP25 contours. Weighted for steady operation and equipped with body-mounted scale-knuckle couplers, the injection-molded body is painted and decorated for a lifelike finish. The car is designed to run on HO layouts with a minimum curve radius of 18 inches.

On prototype rails, modern ethanol cars carry around 30,000 gallons and are commonly owned by leasing firms and leased to ethanol producers and other buyers.
