Alumax’s 50-foot NACC box car is an N-scale replica of the North American Car Corporation’s insulated, outside-post box car with plug doors. Representing a 1960s design that showed up on many railroads, this model offers three road numbers for roster variety and authentic detailing that mirrors the prototype. It’s designed as a ready-to-run model for modern N-scale layouts, delivering a convincing blend of period-accurate appearance and dependable performance.

Detail-focused features include etched metal stirrup steps, a detailed molded underframe, and body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers for smooth, reliable coupling. It rides on 70-ton N-scale trucks with machined 33-inch metal wheels and is weighted for stable, quiet operation on curves. To match specific prototypes, the car can be finished with Pullman Standard or Superior plug doors and equipped with either a Pullman Standard or Stanray (Superior) roof. With an insulated, outside-post body and a minimum radius of 9¾ inches, this model runs confidently on typical layouts.
