Thrall High-Side Gondola with Load, FPPX #3 (ATH3888) is a detailed model of Thrall’s era coal-hauling gondolas, designed to anchor vintage freight scenes and interchanges. It captures the look of mid-century coal service cars and is ideal for yards or main-line dioramas where rotary dumpers were used to unload coal.

It rolls on machined metal wheels with screw-mounted 100-ton roller bearing trucks and uses body-mounted McHenry scale operating knuckle couplers with a separately applied brake wheel. The model is fully painted and printed on a highly detailed injection-molded body and is weighted for smooth operation on Code 40, 55, and 80 rail, with a minimum radius of 9 3/4 inches. It is primed for grime modeling, offering the in-service look with base colors matched to the prototype and a ready foundation for weathering to add rust and grime. Thrall produced these high-side gondolas in the 1960s–1980s, reflecting an era of coal-hauling equipment still seen in legacy rail yards today.
