HO 50' Ice Bunker Reefer Model (ATH50029)

HO-scale 50-foot Ice Bunker Reefer is a detailed, ready-to-run model of a classic refrigerated boxcar designed to haul perishable freight at controlled temperatures. These reefers historically used ice to preserve cargo such as dairy, meat, and vegetables, and this model captures the distinctive look and detailing of that era.

It comes fully assembled and weighted for stable, smooth operation on HO layouts. The car features separately applied end tack boards and door latch bars, molded and wire-form grab irons, stirrup steps and recessed ladders, as well as positionable Santa Fe-style reversed ice hatches with etched hatch stops. Additional details include a photo-etched brake platform, McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers, and precision-machined metal wheels with RP25 contours, all housed in a highly detailed injection-molded body. A minimum 18-inch radius is recommended for best performance.
