Designed for realistic operation, the model features an injection-molded body that is fully assembled, with a choice of flush or overhanging roof per prototype, end cages and etched end platforms, body-mounted McHenry scale double-shelf knuckle couplers, machined metal wheels with RP25 contours for smooth performance on popular tracks, and factory-applied painting and lettering for prototypical realism. It is weighted for stable tracking and requires a minimum 18-inch radius. In prototype terms, the PS-2 2,600-cubic-foot hopper entered service in the 1960s and was commonly used for cement and sand shipments, occasionally serving as a buffer car when bulkloads were not bulkheaded.
