HO-scale SD40T-2 Ready-to-Run Locomotive, SP road-number 8497, is a faithful HO model of GM's six-axle tunnel-motor. In prototype terms, this locomotive delivered about 3,000 horsepower from a 16-cylinder EMD 645E3 engine, and the model reproduces the distinctive rear radiator intakes and cooling system that define the tunnel-motor design.
