HO RTR SD40T-2 D&RGW #5344 Diesel-Electric Locomotive (ATH72071)

This HO-scale ready-to-run SD40T-2 locomotive reproduces Denver & Rio Grande Western’s #5344, delivering a faithful, ready-to-operate centerpiece for an HO model railroad. The prototype is a six-axle diesel-electric built by GM-EMD with a 16-cylinder 645E3 engine producing about 3,000 horsepower, and the model captures the tunnel-motor’s distinctive cooling layout, rear radiator features, and see-through cab details for an authentic silhouette on your layout.

Out of the box it’s fully assembled and ready to run, featuring LED lighting, fine-scale handrails, see-through cab windows, and separately applied detailing for a lifelike look. It’s built with all-wheel drive for smooth, quiet operation, powered by a 5-pole motor with flywheels and a robust drivetrain, and comes DCC-ready with a 21-pin NEM Quick Plug for easy decoder installation. Painted and decorated for realism, it rides on RP25 wheels compatible with most HO track, uses McHenry knuckle couplers, and is designed to run on 22-inch radius curves or larger.
