HO Scale SD40T-2 Diesel Locomotive with DCC and Sound, SP 8494. This ready-to-run model reproduces Southern Pacific’s 8494 road unit, a classic six-axle EMD tunnel-motor, and includes onboard sound and DCC control for lifelike operation on an HO layout.

Built for faithful operation, the model features fine-scale details such as see-through cab windows, accurate handrails, LED lighting, and separately applied components that capture the prototype’s look. It rides on an all-wheel-drive drivetrain with a five-pole motor and flywheels for smooth, quiet running, and its onboard Econami sound by SoundTraxx provides engine, horn, and bell sounds in DCC (with limited DC functionality). DCC readiness and NMRA-compliant features make it easy to integrate into a DCC-equipped layout, and the locomotive is fully assembled and ready to run right out of the box.
