HO-scale SD40T-2 locomotive in Southern Pacific’s Speed Lettering scheme, designed to bring the 1990s SP tunnel-motor look to an HO layout. The model reproduces the 1991 Speed Lettering updates—an 88-inch nose with a brake wheel, front ditch lights, a relocated P3 horn, and a modified front window—along with the removal of parts from the SP light package and extended-range dynamic brakes for an authentic prototype appearance. Fully assembled and ready-to-run, it offers dependable, on-layout operation with accurate detail for SP-era enthusiasts.

In addition to its meticulous decoration, the locomotive emphasizes performance and durability: fine-scale handrails, etched windshield wipers, see-through dynamic brake fans, LED lighting, and separately applied air tanks, all riding on an all-wheel-drive chassis with a five-pole motor for smooth, quiet running. It uses nickel-plated, blackened machined RP25 wheels and McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers, with a DCC-ready 21-pin NEM plug for digital control. Sound-equipped variants add an onboard Tsunami2 decoder delivering engine, horn, and bell sounds in both DC and DCC, plus full NMRA compatibility and CV-adjustable performance. Painted and lettered to resemble the prototype, it’s suited to HO layouts that use around 22-inch radius curves.
