HO Scale SD40 Locomotive in Fort Worth & Western Railroad livery, No. 2030, captures the look and performance of a classic EMD SD40 on HO layouts. Powered by the real 3,000-horsepower turbocharged V16, this model delivers smooth, reliable operation with all-wheel-drive gearing and a finely detailed injection-molded body. It includes see-through cab windows, photo-etched windshield wipers, separately applied grab irons and air tanks, a detailed 4,000-gallon fuel tank, exhaust stack, and a frame-mounted bell. Riding on Flexicoil-C trucks with RP25-contour wheels and McHenry scale knuckle couplers that are Kadee compatible, it pairs prototype-scale detail with dependable performance. DCC-ready Quick Plug technology with a 21-pin NEM connector and universal electrical pickup make it easy to install a decoder, while a minimum 18-inch radius and a 22-inch recommended curve ensure smooth operation on common HO layouts.

For sound-equipped versions, an onboard DCC decoder with SoundTraxx Econami provides engine, horn, and bell sounds that work in both DC and DCC. In DC, some functions may be limited, while DCC offers full NMRA-compliant control, including operating lights via F5 and F6 and the ability to lash up multiple units with a lead unit’s horn and lights.
