HO SD40 Locomotive with DCC and Sound, C&O #7451 (ATH73739)

An HO-scale SD40 diesel locomotive with DCC and sound, presented in Chesapeake and Ohio livery, designed to bring authentic power and detail to modern model railroading. This highly detailed model features LED lighting, photo-etched windshield wipers, separate wire grab irons and air tanks, curved radiator fan detail, see-through cab windows, and a finely molded body that captures the character of the prototype.

Inside, an onboard DCC decoder with SoundTraxx Econami sound delivers engine, horn, and bell effects, while a single cube speaker provides clear audio on both DC and DCC layouts (some functions are limited in DC). The model uses a robust 5-pole skew-wound motor with flywheels for smooth operation, all-wheel drive and electrical pickup, and McHenry scale knuckle couplers compatible with Kadee. It supports MU lashups and CV-based adjustments, with a CV chart included for easy setup. For layout planning, the minimum curve radius is 18 inches, with 22 inches or larger recommended for best performance.
