HO SD40 Locomotive with DCC and Sound, PC #6257 (ATH73743)

An HO-scale SD40 diesel locomotive with DCC and onboard sound brings authentic motive power to HO layouts. This model is equipped with a DCC decoder and SoundTraxx Econami sound, delivering engine, horn, and bell sounds on compatible layouts and it runs on both DC and DCC power. Realistic detailing includes see-through cab windows and finely modeled exterior features that capture the look of the prototype.

For fit and operation, the model uses Quick Plug plug-and-play technology with a 21-pin NEM connector for easy DCC setup, RP25 wheel contours for compatibility with popular HO track brands, and a robust 5-pole skew-wound motor with flywheels for smooth, quiet operation and strong low-speed performance. It carries McHenry scale knuckle couplers that are Kadee-compatible, rubber MU hoses, and a 4,000-gallon fuel tank. Minimum radius is 18 inches (22 inches recommended) for reliable running. In DCC mode all NMRA functions are accessible and CVs can be adjusted; a CV chart is included. In DC operation, the engine, horn, and bell sounds still work, though some functions may be limited.
