HO Thrall High Side Gondola with Load DJJX #2 (ATH7666)

HO-scale Thrall High-Side Gondola with Load is a detailed freight-car model that reproduces Thrall's high-side gondolas used for coal transport in the mid- to late-20th century. The removable load lets you depict the car either loaded or empty on an HO layout, adding realism to yard and industry scenes.

Features include wire and plastic handrails, stirrup steps, ladders and underbody details, along with separately applied brake gear such as the brake wheel, air reservoir, and brake cylinder. The car rides on 100-ton trucks with 36-inch wheels and RP25 contours for compatibility with popular HO-track brands, and it is equipped with McHenry scale knuckle couplers for reliable, prototypical operation. The injection-molded body is highly detailed, and the model is weighted to run smoothly on curves as tight as an 18-inch radius. It’s finished in a grime-ready style, with faded base colors matched to the prototype to serve as a natural starting point for weathering grime and rust. Historically, Thrall produced versatile freight cars—especially coal gondolas—through the 1960s to 1980s, a background that helps recreate authentic mid-century freight scenes.
