HO-scale Thrall high-side gondola with load is a detailed freight car model designed to replicate Thrall’s coal-haul gondolas from the mid-20th century. The removable load lets you depict unloading and switching scenarios, bringing realistic operation to an HO layout.

Featuring a highly detailed injection-molded body, the model includes wire and plastic handrails, stirrup steps, ladders, and underbody details, plus separately applied brake gear with a brake wheel, air reservoir, and brake cylinder. It rides on 100-ton trucks with 36-inch wheels and RP25 contours, compatible with most HO track brands, and uses McHenry scale knuckle spring couplers for dependable operation. The car is weighted for smooth running and has a minimum 18-inch radius for easy handling on common layouts. It’s primed for grime, with base colors matched to the prototype to provide a realistic starting point for weathering and rust. Thrall’s high-side gondolas were prominent in coal service from the 1960s to the 1980s, making this model a faithful and era-appropriate addition to any layout.
