HO ACF 2970 Covered Hopper CB&Q (ATH81064)

This HO-scale ACF 2970 Covered Hopper in CB&Q livery is a detailed model of a two-bay Centerflow hopper designed for HO railroading. Based on American Car and Foundry’s 2970 design, it carries 2,970 cubic feet of capacity and reflects the 1960s Centerflow concept that balanced strength with gravity unloading for efficient bulk shipments such as cement or sand.

The model captures authentic CB&Q styling and is equipped with a full suite of fine-scale details and operating features: round or trough hatches, a photo-etched metal roof walk, and separately applied wire grab irons, stirrup steps and brake wheel. It includes detailed outlets and a complete brake system with a separate cylinder, valve and air reservoir with wire brake plumbing, and rides on screw-mounted express-type trucks with machined RP25 wheels. Weighted for smooth running and fitted with body-mounted McHenry scale knuckle couplers, the injection-molded body is painted and printed for realistic decoration, and the design is suitable for HO layouts with an 18-inch minimum radius.
