The model mirrors the prototype’s all-aluminum construction and trough-style bottom, delivering higher capacity and a lower center of gravity for steadier tracking in long unit-train runs. One end of the car is fitted with a rotary coupler to enable feeding through a rotary unloader without uncoupling.

Finer details include a newly re-tooled body, separate wire-form grab irons, etched metal coupler platforms, and a separately applied brake wheel, along with multiple road numbers. It rides on 36-inch machined metal wheels with RP25 contours, is weighted for optimum performance, and uses body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers. Finished with painted and printed decoration for realism, the model carries a minimum radius recommendation of 18 inches, making it suitable for a wide range of HO layouts and coal-terminal scenes.
