HO Bethgon Coalporter with Load (ATH81599)

HO BethGon Coalporter with Load is an HO-scale model coal car designed to reproduce Bethlehem Steel’s high-capacity BethGon design in miniature. The loaded car recreates the distinctive bathtub-style, all-aluminum body with a trough-style bottom that boosts carrying capacity and lowers the center of gravity for steadier tracking on layout curves. In real service, one end carried a rotary coupler to feed a train through a rotary unloader without uncoupling, a heritage detail reflected in the model for authentic operation in unit-train scenes.

Key details include a newly re-tooled injection-molded body with separately applied wire-form grab irons and etched metal coupler platforms, a separately mounted brake wheel, multiple road numbers for variety, 36-inch machined metal wheels with RP25 contours, and weight for optimum performance. The model uses body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers, a painted and printed finish for realistic decoration, and is designed for HO layouts with an 18-inch minimum radius to deliver smooth operation.
