HO SW1000 Locomotive VIA #203 (ATH86748)

An HO-scale model of the EMD SW1000 switcher in VIA Rail Canada livery, VIA #203, officially licensed and faithful to the prototype. This ready-to-run locomotive is designed for yard switching and short-haul work on HO layouts, featuring a detailed injection-molded body, see-through radiator grille and cab windows, fine-scale handrails, and VIA’s distinctive branding that captures the look of the real locomotive.

For operation, the SW1000 offers modern control and sound options: DCC-ready with a 21-pin plug and, in sound-equipped versions, a Tsunami2 decoder with cube speaker for authentic engine, horn and bell sounds. Sound-equipped models operate in both DC and DCC, with full NMRA compatibility in DCC mode and some functions limited in DC. LED lighting and operating ground lights enhance nighttime realism, while RP25-contoured wheels, all-wheel drive and electrical pickup ensure smooth performance. The model includes McHenry scale knuckle couplers, a 600-gallon fuel tank, drop steps, MU stands, and finely detailed features such as a see-through radiator grille, separate air tanks and wire grab irons, with an 18-inch minimum radius suitable for most HO layouts.
