Drawing on the late-1960s EMD SW1000 four-axle, 1,000-horsepower design, the model captures the character of the era's yard power. It includes period-accurate details such as a roof beacon, MU hoses, and a winterization cab window, plus LED lighting, lit ground lights, a detailed cab interior, and finely scaled handrails. The sound-equipped version houses a Tsunami2 decoder with dual cube speakers for engine, horn, and bell sounds and runs on both DC and DCC with NMRA-compliant CVs; a 21-pin plug enables quick DCC upgrades. McHenry scale knuckle couplers (Kadee-compatible), RP25 wheels, and all-wheel drive provide dependable operation on HO track.
