HO SW1000 Locomotive with DCC and Sound CB&Q #9320 (ATH86846)

HO SW1000 Locomotive with DCC and Sound CB&Q #9320 (ATH86846)

HO-scale SW1000 locomotive in CB&Q livery with DCC and sound captures the look and feel of a late-1960s yard switcher. The SW1000 was a four-axle diesel built by GM’s Electro-Motive Division between 1966 and 1972, delivering about 1,000 horsepower from a 645E eight-cylinder engine and sharing the SW1500 frame for a compact 44-foot-8-inch length. This CB&Q version includes era-appropriate details such as dual winterization windows, a firecracker antenna, and early-style cut levers, with LED lighting for long life. DCC-ready variants use a 21-pin plug, while DCC and sound models pair Tsunami2 sound with dual cube speakers for realistic engine and horn effects on compatible layouts.

On the layout, the SW1000 offers dependable, smooth operation with all-wheel drive, precise gearing and electrical pickup, and RP25 wheels that run well on common HO track. The injection-molded, highly detailed body is painted and decorated, featuring a detailed cab interior, see-through grilles and windows, and finely applied grab irons. McHenry scale knuckle couplers (Kadee-compatible) join to the rolling stock, and Quick Plug DCC readiness simplifies upgrades. Sound-equipped versions add onboard Tsunami2 decoding and a cube speaker, with engine, horn and bell sounds active in both DC and DCC (some functions limited in DC), and CVs provide tuning options (CV chart included). The model is fully assembled and ready-to-run, with a minimum 18-inch radius recommended for operation on HO layouts.
