HO Scale VIA Rail SW1000 Locomotive with DCC and Sound, VIA 203 is a detailed HO model of VIA Rail Canada’s 1,000-horsepower EMD SW1000 switcher. Officially licensed by VIA Rail Canada, this ready-to-run locomotive captures the prototype’s distinctive look with a Sinclair antenna, roller-bearing trucks, and a 600-gallon fuel tank. The four-axle switcher was built for yard work and short-haul moves, and this model brings that role to life on HO layouts with accurate proportions and high-quality decoration.

It’s offered in DCC-ready form with a 21-pin plug, or as a DCC and sound model powered by Tsunami2 with dual cube speakers for authentic engine, horn, and bell sounds. On DC or DCC layouts it features lit ground lights, LED lighting, a detailed cab interior, see-through radiator grille and cab windows, and separately applied wire grab irons, plus McHenry scale knuckle couplers that are Kadee-compatible. The drive system uses all-wheel drive with precision gears and all-wheel electrical pickup for smooth, quiet operation, driven by a 5-pole skew-wound motor with flywheels; RP25 wheels ensure reliable performance across common HO track. The model is fully assembled and ready-to-run, with an 18-inch minimum radius for layout compatibility.
